jack's song

jack loves the primary song " i love to see the temple." he loves it so much, he sings it as a substitute for every hymn during sacrament:) the thing is, he doesn't stop singing when the music stops. he will always finish the entire song, even if there's no music. a couple weeks ago, he sang " i love to see the temple" during the sacrament hymn and he kept on singing, even after the congregation had stopped and the prayer had begun. luckily, he was singing pretty softly, but the people sitting behind us were laughing during the sacrament prayer:) so were we:)

the great outdoors

now that we have a backyard, the kids are out there every day. at first, it was just audrey, since jack was terrified of bugs, but he's since gotten over that. now he's the one that loves to play in the sprinkler and the hose:) sammy still doesn't like water, unless it's his bath:) richard can't wait until he can go outside and play with the older kids. we can't let him outside right now because all he does is eat the dirt:)

okay- here's the story. they waited all day for it to rain and it didn't. so, they decided  to pretend it was raining with the sprinkler instead. there they were, standing under the spirnkler, with umbrellas, playing "it's raining":)

no sprinkler here...sammy doesn't like it. they're playing pirates. with umbrellas.

yes, he is sitting on jacob's head. then he started to bounce. that's when it got really funny:)

sammy doesn't like the sprinkler, but he loves to dig. the backyard is full of holes. oh well.

funny things kids say

jack learned that jacob's company is called gamestop. after an extensive conversation about what daddy does at work, jacob asked jack, in summary, "where does daddy work?" jack answered, "at the bus stop":)

jacob had just finished changing richard's very poopy diaper and was throwing it away when audrey said,"daddy, richard cwapped."
jacob-" he what? he crapped?"
audrey- "no daddy, he cwapped, like this" and she clapped her hands together. the timing on that was just too perfect:)

today is out anniversary and the kids were looking at pictures of our wedding when jack said, "you need roses when you get married."
mommy-"well, you can have any kind of flower as long as it is in season."
jack- "yeah, like roses":)

richard's birthday

richard's 1!! i can't believe my baby is a toddler! his birthday was fantastic, of course, and aunt judy was here to join in the fun. the older kids "helped" richard chose his birthday cake, after the chose every other cake for their birthdays:) i bake so often that a homemade cake is nothing special. but a store bought cake- that's wonderful:) enjoy the pics! he's standing up on his own and can take a couple of steps, but no major walking, yet:)

tis summer and the time for music festivals! this year, diana krall and tony bennett toured together for one night at the black creek music festival- yea!! i've wanted to see diana krall live for years, but she never toured in an area close enough to where we live. jacob insisted we go and it was a wonderful early anniversary date with my loving husband of eight years. diana krall had her set first, and it was amazing to watch. she didn't have a list- she just played until a song came to mind. she would improve in between numbers and the improve would lead to the next number. she had her trio of bass, guitar, and drums with her and the connection between the four of them was astounding. with a glance they were able to communicate which song it was and who's turn it was to improve for how many counts of four. then came tony bennett, who i've seen before, but is just as fantastic as ever. unfortunately, we got rained out- the york university rexall centre is an outdoor theatre. i didn't care- i got to see diana krall in person:)

i finally have time to put up some more pics of the kids. they love the house, especially the downstairs playroom:) right now, it's painted a basic white, which is the perfect canvas for the mario room jacob and i have planned:) each wall will be a different level from mario bros. wii- catering completely to our kids' imaginations. they love mario so much and often pretend to be the characters that we thought it would be fun to have a room that was all imagination and creativity:)
